Board of Directors
The Christian Science Provider Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit provider network which provides Christian Science nursing services to enrollees of health plans.
Alan Marquardt II, Chair of the Board of Directors
Allan Marquardt has been a member of the Network’s Board since 2021 and has served as its board president since 2024. His professional career spans forty years in real estate and banking. He has spent over twenty years serving on various volunteer boards, including the Peace Haven Association (five years, concluding as president), Principia (fourteen years across two terms), and two branch churches of the Christian Science denomination, both of which appointed him as reader. Allan has served on the executive committee of his Christian Science Association and has held the position of treasurer. He holds an MBA from Wharton and a BA from Principia College, and he resides in St. Louis with his wife, Lois.
John Mitchell, Director
John has served as Executive Director/CEO of Arden Wood in San Francisco (formerly the Christian Science Benevolent Association on the Pacific Coast) since November 2010. Prior to that, he served as its Director of Development from 1998 to 2004. He was the Director of Development at Longyear Museum from 2004 to 2010. John has held leadership roles in the Association of Christian Science Nursing Organizations/Facilities, Inc. (AOCSN), including Chair of the Agenda Planning Committee (APC) and member of the Executive Committee. Before entering the non-profit sector, he worked in banking, investment management, and organizational consulting. He is a graduate of Principia College and holds a master’s degree from Tufts University. He, his wife, and daughter live in San Francisco.
Ted H. Bartelston, ESQ., Director
Ted is in “preferment,” preferring to split his time now in his forty-eighth year between private law practice, spending time with his ten-year-old grandson, and serving on volunteer boards and related activities. These include Peace Haven Association (nine years, concluding as president), Daystar-Ft Lauderdale (three years), Glenridge CS Senior Independent Living (currently), and three branch churches of Christ, Scientist, where he has also served as reader and Sunday School teacher. Ted earned his B.S. degree in History from The State University of New York at Buffalo and his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. He grew up in the New York City suburbs, lived in Miami, Florida, for 28 years, and now resides in St. Louis with his wife, Katie.
Anne McCauley, Director
Anne was an original member of the Provider Network’s board and is happy to serve again. She is a class-taught Christian Scientist and has been active for years in several branch churches and as a member of The Mother Church.
Annie has dedicated over 40 years to non-profit work, serving as an employee, consultant, volunteer, and board member. Much of her professional life has involved leadership roles in organizations that promote the Cause of Christian Science. She was a Director at Camp Newfound in Harrison, ME, a Trustee and President/Executive Director of Longyear Museum, and served as Executive Director of Peace Haven Association.
Recently, she joined the administration of the Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association. Anne earned a BA in Business Administration from Principia College. In late 2024, she and her husband Brian moved from Sun Valley, Idaho, back to St. Louis to be near their two daughters, Hannah Thomas and Sara Buesse, and their growing families.
