     Janiva Toler, President/Chair

Janiva has served as Executive Director for several Christian Science nursing facilities: Lynn House of Potomac Valley, Inc. in Virginia, The Leaves, Inc. in Texas and since 2003, Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association in Massachusetts. Janiva has served in a number of positions in the Association of Christian Science Nursing Organizations/Facilities, Inc. and has conducted Christian Science nursing facility inspections for The Commission for Accreditation of Christian Science Nursing Organizations/Facilities, Inc. as well as for The Mother Church (prior to The Commission).  She has extensive experience working with Medicare and insurance with Christian Science benefits.  Janiva is a Trustee for the Christian Science Nursing Arts Trust. Prior to her work with Christian Science nursing facilities she was in commercial real estate. Following college Janiva spent one year as a Christian Science youth speaker for the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church.  She graduated from Principia College.                 



        John Mitchell, Secretary/Treasurer

John has served as Executive Director/CEO of Arden Wood in San Francisco (formerly the Christian Science Benevolent Association on Pacific Coast) since November of 2010. Prior to that he served as its Director of Development from 1998 to 2004. He served as Longyear Museum’s Director of Development from 2004 to 2010.

John has served in leadership positions in the Association of Christian Science Nursing Organizations/Facilities, Inc. (AOCSN), including Chair of the Agenda Planning Committee (APC) and member of the Executive Committee. 

Prior to joining the non-profit sector, John worked in various positions in banking, investment management and organizational consulting. He is a graduate of Principia College and has a master’s degree from Tufts University. He and his wife and daughter live in San Francisco.



Bonnie Castroman, Director

Bonnie CastromanBonnie Castroman has been a Christian Science nurse advertising in the Christian Science Journal since 1981.  Her practice has included Christian Science nursing in facilities, Christian Science youth camps, Visiting services, assisting individuals privately in their homes, and supporting Christian Science students at Principia College. During her career Bonnie served on several governing boards of non-profit organizations including Redwood Visiting Christian Science Nurse Service in Northern California, and Treehouse Wildlife Rescue center in Illinois. She has been an Administrator of a Christian Science nursing facility, and served as Director of Christian Science nursing in several organizations. She shared her love for Christian Science nursing as an instructor (1986-1999) and Director (1994-1999) at the Christian Science Nurse’s Training School at Arden Wood in San Francisco, CA., and went on to establish a private organization called EduCaring Foundation, providing workshops and instruction. Her free-lance work in facilities and communities all over the world has included teaching and presenting workshops in the Spanish language. From 2008-2012 Bonnie was the Executive Director of The Commission for the Accreditation of Christian Science Nursing Organizations which included establishing and maintaining standards, training inspectors, investigating complaints and inspecting facilities in the US, Canada, and Europe. Currently, Bonnie is the Manager of Christian Science Nursing Activities at The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
